Feb. 17, 2012 |The WWPass Apache Authentication Module now available
The WWPass Apache Authentication Module 2.0 allows webs sites that utilize Apache HTTP servers to give their users the choice of logging onto the site via standard login/password or the more secure WWPass Authentication Service. The WWPass service is as easy to use as id/password, but is far more secure. Using WWPass also enables site operators to specify the stringency of the credentials users must present to gain site access. The module is available here and is free of charge.
WWPass believes the best way to protect user privacy is to maintain no information whatsoever on those users. Consequently, WWPass maintains no database of user identities — indeed all users are anonymous to WWPass. Further, WWPass has no knowledge of sites that users are accessing. All downloads from the WWPass website are delivered anonymously.
Feb. 15, 2012 | WWPass Free SDK now available
The WWPass SDK contains instructions enabling any application to interface with the WWPass infrastructure in order to conduct authentications and/or to store sensitive data on the WWPass Dispersed Storage network. The SDK contains instructions for interfacing with the WWPass API, program libraries, and sample implementations. Integrating WWPass authentication into an application or site is a straightforward, two-step process.
For sites and applications based on open source programs, a WWPass module may already be available, which would obviate the need for the SDK. Current WWPass-enabled open source programs include Apache, Magento, WordPress. WWPass is also PKCS 11 compatible, and can therefore be used with PKCS 11 compatible secure applications such as Thunderbird email, Ubuntu Linux login, and OpenVPN.
